Surgical Skills Evening

NDASS will be launch its year with a bang on March 7th, with our annual suturing event!
In 2019 this event will be comprised of small group teaching, by some of Perth's finest surgeons. This will give students the best possible opportunity to master this important skill. Whether you are in ED, a rural GP, or a budding surgeon, suturing is a skill that all doctors should know how to perform. The night will be divided into basic, intermediate and advanced suturing workshops. All students who would like to attend the advanced suturing workshop should have completed at least 1 previous suturing workshop.

6:00pm - Light dinner and refreshments
6:30pm - Keynote speaker: A/Prof Dieter Gebauer
Consultant Facial Trauma Surgeon
Head of Department Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital
7:00pm - Clinical suturing workshop:
Basic / Intermediate / Advanced suturing skills workshop
8:45pm - Debrief
9:00pm - Finish
The types of skills developed in each of the workshops are as follows:

Beginner suturing workshop: simple interrupted sutures, vertical and horizontal mattress sutures

Intermediate suturing workshop: simple interrupted sutures, vertical and horizontal mattress sutures, subcuticular sutures

Advance suturing: suture revision, laceration repair and hand tying
This event is open to NDASS members only of all skill levels (MED6100 - 6400). If you are not already a member, join now while membership is still free.
A link will be provided in the near future for a FREE eLearning package. In order to ensure that you get the most out of the workshops, this MUST be completed prior to the evening.
