The use of Virtual Reality in the management of chronic post-operative pain.
Field: ORTHOPAEDICS, TRAUMA, PAIN MANAGEMENT
Aims of Project: To evaluate the role of virtual reality immersion in the management of chronic pain following orthopaedic surgical intervention.
Research Methods: Initially starting out as a case series leading to development of full scale RCT. This study will be done in collaboration with Washington State University in the USA.
Timeline: Commencing after July 2016.
Students Role: This will depend on the specific skill set of the student but can involve any of the following: study design, ethics and grant application drafting, data collection and analysis and result write up.
This study is only open to clinical year students or pre-clinical students with a background in research.
Expected Time commitment: Time commitment is open to discussion and can be adapted to fit in with a student’s schedule. This study is only open to clinical year students or pre-clinical students with a background in research.
